Dr. Henry Smith, Principal Elect
Dr. Smith served for over 43 years in Christian higher education at three Christian universities in the USA where he worked in nearly every university position. He began his calling to Christian higher education as a teaching faculty member and later filled various administrative roles such as department chair, graduate dean, provost, executive vice president, president, and chancellor. Additionally, he serves on the board of trustees for the largest accrediting commission in the USA, the Higher Learning Commission. After consulting with Pilgrim Wesleyan Church in Zambia for several years, he accepted the position of principal for AWUC. With this background he is leading the beginning of Africa Wesleyan University College. His primary responsibilities include the following:
- Responsible for all academic, financial and administrative issues, and is the chief executive of the college
- Presides over all ceremonial assemblies of the college in the absence of the Chancellor
- Confers degrees, diplomas, certificates, and other academic titles and distinctions of the college in the absence of the Chancellor
